Hello I am Andrew, and I have been passionate about games for as long as I can remember. It wasn't until later in my life that I realized that this is what I needed my career to be. I have always been creative and approached things from out side the box. Now that I have honed my skills in the classroom it is time to take the next step forward  as a  game designer in the industry. I am hard working and strive to do the best I can at what ever I am doing. I am a great team player and not afraid to step up to a leadership role when necessary.

Throughout my studies I have worked on a wide range of projects from analogue, VR to digital games each teaching me valuable game design skills both in theory and practical terms. I am eager to extend my repertoire to become the best game designer I possible can. Below you will find some of the games I have worked on.

Mad City

Level Designer

Mad City is a 3rd person arcade shooter with the focus on fast paced gun play. It is easy to pick up and play, using sight lines and colors to afford player the knowledge they need to navigate the level accordingly. This project was made solo in the unreal engine.

The main focus of this project was to create a level that had proper progression and afford players the information to play the way I designed the level to be played. Introducing one type of enemy at a time followed by a combination of enemies.

Using color as a tool, I used black and white palette for the level color while adding in illuminating colors to intractable, way finding and enemies. this helped convey to the players what they should be paying attention to and draw their eyes where I want them to go.

Who Let The Dogs Out

Quest Designer

Level Designer

Narrative Designer

This project was a quest made in RPG maker. It bring together level design and narrative to make an interesting quest where the player must choose between multiple solutions to reach the end point.

The quest sends the player on a path to solve a gang war between rival factions. Each challenge has three different ways to solve them via dialogue, combat or stealth.

The final boss encounter pits the player against a mentally unstable gang leader and depending on the players choices can get six wildly different endings.

Galactic Cluster Luck is a 2D couch play shooter. It supports 4 player local game play and offer a fun cat and mouse twitch play combat that will keep you coming back for more. This was made as a class project over the course of a year with a team of 6 designers and 3 programmers.

I was responsible for come up with the slot machine spawn to keep players on their toes when a match starts. I also developed the spider boss who had its own unique mechanics such as catching players in a web who could then either be rescued or time out and die.

Later in development I became lead artist and was responsible for all the art in the game. I created all of the games backgrounds, characters, platforms etc.

Laid Back Lake

Level Designer

This title was made in conjunction with Liminal studios based out of Australia. Made with less then 24 working hours with a team of 4. The focus was to create a relaxing VR experience out at the lake fishing. This game was playable on the occulus go.

We had the wind and waves set to relaxing breathing patterns and heart rate to help ease the player in to a state of relaxation.

As a level designer I was tasked with making a lake in the mountains. First starting with a topographical map and eventually creating a low poly version in-engine.
